Who: Monsuier Camembert
Where: Gallipoli Legion Club
When: Sunday January 25, 2004

THE last time Melbourne outfit MONSIEUR CAMEMBERT performed in Newcastle, the band was forced to turn away fans at the door.

Those who missed out last time around will have the chance to see the band when it returns to the GALLIPOLI LEGION CLUB on Sunday.

The show is expected to attract interest from both those who missed out and those who saw the band last time as Monsieur Camembert will perform new material.

Included in the set will be new material from the LOUIS PRIMA show JUST A GIGOLO and the new Gypsy set GOLDEN EARRINGS which is being performed for the first time.

Just A Gigolo which was a sell- out hit at THE BASEMENT pays homage to Las Vegas swing king Louis Prima who was responsible for songs like That Old Black Magic, Sing Sing Sing, Angelina and Just a Gigolo .

Monsieur Camembert bring Prima's music to l e with an energetic show and arrangements driven by saxophone, accordion and Gypsy guitar.

``I was completely taken by the humour and fun of Prima's music, and was inspired to do a whole night of his music,'' Monsieur Camembert frontman YARON HALLIS said.

``Then, upon doing some research, I discovered his incredibly colourful and ultimately tragic story from his five wives and countless romances, to his final three years spent lying in a coma and I knew that I wanted to not only perform his wonderful music, but also to tell his story.

'' Monsieur Camembert comprises five members who fuse the wild rhythms of Eastern Europe with Gypsy Swing, Latin and Jazz.

The band's latest album Absynthe was named Best World Music release at the 2003 ARIA Awards.
