BEXTA has held the crown as Australia's number one female DJ for almost a decade.
She came third in last year's TECHNICS AUSTRALIAN TOP 50 DJ POLL and continues to live up to her reputation as one of the country's best hard trance DJs.
BeXta began producing dance music in 1993 after she discovered the rave scene and realised that ``it was meant to be.'' She took the next logical step in her career in 1996 when she got behind the decks, and hasn't stopped since.
She has played alongside some of the biggest in the industry including FATBOY SLIM, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, TIMO MAAS and CARL COX , and played major events such as BIG DAY OUT, GATECRASHER and UTOPIA. She went on her first overseas tour in 2001 following the release of the album One for the Road which was later followed by her successful Mixology album series.
``They seem to have a really solid following,'' BeXta said.
``Everything has just come together really, really well with them over time.'' But the most sought release from BeXta is the Skirmish EP which was put out a few years ago, and re-released last year due to popular demand.
``I re-released it because it got deleted from the record company catalogue,'' BeXta said.
``For the last couple of years I'd been getting e-mails almost on a daily basis from people asking where they could get it, and I didn't even have a copy, so I couldn't even burn one off.'' BeXta will return to play at the MERCURY HOTEL on Saturday night.
