LOCAL musician SU MORLEY will make her stage debut as a new member of Canberra- based rockabilly band THE FUELERS during THE SWEATY BALL this weekend.
Morley recognised for her work LE MINIBUS recently joined the group on fiddle and vocals for a busy summer of shows.
The band played at the WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL and TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL where they took out second place in the busking competition.
Morley is now ready for more action.
``I will be joining the band in the studio next month to record The Fuelers' third album,'' Morley said.
``It's shaping up to be a fairly rockabilly- style venting before laying down another album of the band's kookier material later in the year.'' The Fuelers will perform original material at The Sweaty Ball as well as songs from Morley's repertoire.
The Sweaty Ball will be The Fuelers' fourth trip to Newcastle and punters can expect the band to be in full character mode, drawing the audience in with carnivalesque theatrics. catchy tunes and adverts for bogus ``sponsor companies'' such as Big Man Power Tools. Joining The Fuelers will be local band THE TORPEDOS and special guests THE CHINESE FIGHTING CHICKENS who will open the show with a serve of hillbilly blues.
The show will also double as a launch for The Torpedos' debut album Longer, harder, faster.
The Sweaty Ball is at TIGHES HILL SOCIAL CLUB on Saturday.
Doors open at 8pm. Entry is $10.
