SUMMER has arrived and for SPIDERBAIT it spells the start of a busy festival season.
The trio will play no less than six major festivals in the coming months.
Spiderbait began its run with a main stage performance at HOMEBAKE earlier this month and moved on to play at MEREDITH FESTIVAL, THE FALLS, PEACHES AND CREAM FESTIVAL, BIG DAY OUT and the WILDERLOO FESTIVAL. It has also announced a bunch of regional shows as part of the TONIGHT ALRIGHT TOUR and will appear at TORONTO WORKERS CLUB on Saturday night.
Spiderbait made a comeback this year with its sixth album, Tonight Alright. After a lengthy break from the Australian music if scene, Spiderbait stormed to the top of the charts with its sped-up cover of the LEADBELLY classic Black Betty .
The massive success of the single even came as a surprise to the band, which was initially hesitant about releasing the track as a single.
``We always felt there was a risk putting out Black Betty as a single, mainly because it was a cover,'' singer and bassist JANET ENGLISH said.
``We felt like we were going out on a limb, and the record company wasn't convinced either. ``In the end, it just paid off.'' Spiderbait will be supported by emerging Sydney band THE CAMELS on Saturday night.
Tickets are available at the venue by calling 4959 th2011 or online at www.tpa.net.au They are $22 in advance or $25 on the night if available.
