IT took CHARLIE LANDSBOROUGH almost 30 years to be discovered but the success he has had since is phenomenal, with sell-out tours in Ireland and the UK.

His first album, What Colour Is The Wind , went platinum in the UK and since then his popularity has continued to grow.

Landsborough's songs have been covered by everyone from FOSTER AND ALLEN and JACK JONES to GEORGE HAMILTON IV. Landsborough is regarded as one of the most determined and hard-working artists on the country scene.

He developed a strong if interest in music from a young age and grew up influenced by ELVIS PRESLEY and HANK WILLIAMS. ``My brothers were all sailors and they brought home guitars and music from all around the world,'' Landsborough said.

Steve, have messaged Jade to fix this bit. ``I was always surrounded by music and my dad told me I used to sing myself to sleep when I was about three.'' Landsborough picked up the guitar for the first time when he was 14 years old.

He left school, working a variety of jobs different professions while trying to make a start in music.

It was in 1984 that Landsborough finally saw his dream become a reality when if his song What Colour is the Wind became a hit in the UK.

The single was followed by an album which helped Landsborough to knock country music superstar GARTH BROOKS from the top of the charts.

He has since released more than 10 albums and sold more than 700,000 copies.

Landsborough recently released a new album, Reflections , and will return to Australia in February for a 17-date national tour.

He will start the tour at HEXHAM BOWLING CLUB on Thursday, February 24.

He will be supported by singer-songwriter ERIC BOGLE.
