THREE bands will host their own version of A DAY ON THE GREEN at the BURWOOD BLUES FEST this month.

Dubbed A DAY ON THE GRASS , the event will be held at BURWOOD COLLIERY BOWLING CLUB on September 21 and feature three of the region's top blues acts.

The club's secretary manager PAUL CARTER said the event is an ideal opportunity for families to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the club's picturesque location, which overlooks Dudley Beach.

``The site is a truly magnificent spot with lush grass and great views,'' Mr Carter said.

``A whale and its calf have set up residency in the bay at Dudley which can be seen from the club, so you could come down and watch the great bands and enjoy some whale watching.

'' A Day On the Grass will kick off at 1pm and feature performances from GHOST ROAD, THE TORPEDOS and BLOWIN' SMOKE .

Ghost Road, who hail from Port Stephens, formed 12 years ago and perform what it describes as ``groovy blues rock''.

The Torpedos will serve up a mix of hillbilly and swing, while Blowin' Smoke will perform a variety of blues, pop and rock.

Food and drinks will be available from the club's restaurant and bar and punters are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or deck chair to the event.

``The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and the menu includes everything from pies and hamburgers to steaks and seafood.

'' Mr Carter said the club will make the event a regular attraction it is a success.

There will be full security and cost is $5 or free for children 12 and under.
