AFTER calling Los Angeles home for the past four years, Australian performer KATE CEBERANO has packed up her bags and returned to home soil.

The move marks a new step for Ceberano as she prepares to re- launch her musical career with the release of a brand new album and an upcoming tour.

Titled The Girl Can't Help It , the album represents Ceberano's return to the piano in terms of writing and live performance.

``It's a very mature record for me,'' Ceberano said.

``A lot of it's self- penned and musically I guess you'd call it alternative-pop.

'' To coincide with the release of the album, Ceberano will complete a number of shows which that will see her perform songs from the new album as well as past hits.

She will be joined on stage by her band, which includes brother PHIL CEBERANO, with whom she has been performing with for the past 15 years.

Newcastle has been lucky enough to secure a performance at WEST LEAGUES CLUB on November 9, which is one of four Australian shows.

The others will be in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

Ceberano said her time in the US had allowed her to develop her skills on stage and develop as a songwriter.

``My time in the States has had an immense affect on both my work and my psyche,'' she said.

``From performing at New York jazz clubs and classic nightclubs such as Nells to moving on to Cal ornia and immersing myself in music studies and song writing, the journey has been an important one for me.

'' Ceberano has shared the stage with the likes of INXS, MALCOLM McLAREN, GRACE JONES, FRANK SINATRA, ROD STEWART, NANCY WILSON, NIKKA COSTA, ISAAC HAYES and BECK .

Her step into the music world began more than 15 years ago.

She has received seven ARIA nominations and released five platinum albums, four gold albums and sold in excess of more than 1 thmillion albums in Australia alone.

She first came to prominence as lead vocalist in funk band I'M TALKING and went on to a successful solo career with hits such as Bedroom Eyes .
