Kate is Finally Finding Her Own Voice

Who: Kate Ceberano
Where: Western Suburbs Leagues Club
When: Saturday November 8, 2003

KATE CEBERANO will complete her long-awaited Australian stage return in Newcastle this weekend.

For the past seven years Ceberano has spent time establishing a musical career in the US.

She returned to Australia earlier this year for the birth of her first child and to release her new album The Girl Can't Help It.

She celebrated her return with a brief string of dates in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle.

She will perform her final show at WEST LEAGUES CLUB on Saturday night.

The show will see Ceberano showcase songs from The Girl Can't Help It along with some cover tracks.

It will also mark Ceberano's return to the piano in terms of writing and live performance and she will be joined on stage by a band that includes brother PHIL CEBERANO.

Ceberano said The Girl Can't Help It reflects her versatility as a musician.

``From a very young age I was a terr ic mimic,'' Ceberano said.

``That's why I've been able to swing from rock to pop, from jazz to blues and everything in between.

Now, though, I feel like I am finally finding my own voice.

'' Ceberano rose to prominence in the band I'M TALKING before she pursued a solo career that saw her become one of Australia's most popular female artists.

She released her debut solo album Kate Ceberano and Her Septet in 1987 which was followed up with the album You've Always Got The Blues in 1988 which won her an ARIA award for Best Female Artist.

She had a major hit with the song Bedroom Eyes and branched into theatre when she undertook the role of Mary in a production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in 1992.

Tickets to Ceberano's show at West Leagues Club are on sale from the club on 4935 1200.
