WHAT does Central Coast band Hitchcock's Regret have in common with legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock?Apart from the name, not a whole lot.The four piece took its name from the chapter of a Hitchcock autobiography.Formed seven years ago, Hitchcock's Regret has experienced a burst of creativity in the past 18 months with the release of
two albums. The debut album Regretfulness was released in 2001 and was followed up by the 2002 release Her Life In Reverse. The album, which features a collaboration with Bluebottle Kiss' Jamie Hutchings, has won the band international recognition with encouraging reviews coming in from Australia,
Europe and the UK.After receiving airplay on BBC Radio and Pex said the band hopes to tour the UK later in the year to support the release of the album.``We're aiming to go overseas around the release of the new album
so we're hoping to get to England in August and do a mini tour.''With a sound that would best be described as melodic pop, the band is best likened to artists such
as Travis, Alex Lloyd and Neil Finn. But the undoubted influence on the album is The Beatles.``Our main influence would have to be The Beatles, we can't really go
past them because their influence on us is massive.''Hitchcock's Regrets will launch the album at The Metro Theatre's Roma Room on Saturday night. Her Life In reverse is out through Laughing Outlaw Records.
