ANYONE could be forgiven for mistaking MICHAEL FRANTI as an Australian citizen.
After all, the gentle giant visits the country no less than twice a year and will return to Australia in August for what will be his second tour for 2003.
The tour follows the release of Franti's latest album with his band SPEARHEAD and is another grooved-up offering of inspiring tunes.
Similarly to the 2001 release ifStay Human, Everyone Deserves Music offers politically and socially driven lyrics.
But don't let that turn you off.
The great thing about Franti is that he not only has the ability to move your mind, but to also move your feet.
His inspiring lyrics are easy to swallow thanks to the backing of an irresistible mix of funk, rap, soul, reggae and hip hop.
Although the new album is similar to ifStay Human , it's much more upbeat.
Opening track ifWhat I Be chugs along at an easy pace and sets the mood for the remainder of the album.
lw-4ifBomb The World highlights Franti's skill for songwriting with the clever lyrics ``You can bomb the world to pieces/but you can't bomb the world into peace''.
lw-3 ifEveryone Deserves Music and ifWe Don't Stop are particular standouts and guarantee to have you tapping your toes.
