US singer-songwriter JEWEL is set to headline the next A DAY ON THE GREEN event in February 2003.
Her appearance at the event will coincide with a national tour which will kick off at BIMBADGEN ESTATE WINERY on February 14.
The tour will see Jewel play solo on acoustic guitar following her decision to perform as a soloist after the recent death of her bass player.
Since making her debut in 1995 with the breakthrough hits You Were Meant For Me and Who Will Save Your Soul, the Alaska- born artist has sold more than 19 thmillion albums.
Her early releases Pieces Of You, Spirit and This Way offered stripped back tunes which are a stark contrast to the edgy pop she adopted on her latest album 0304.
Jewel's recent US tour has garnered glowing reviews.
Her upcoming Australian leg will be her first here in five years.
As well as playing two dates with A Day On the Green alongside ethereal group GEORGE and pop star CHRISTINE ANU, Jewel will present a series of theatre shows.
It will be the f th time the Hunter Valley has hosted A Day On the Green, following previous events with PAUL KELLY, THE WHITLAMS, JACKSON BROWNE and the BEACH BOYS.
``We always hope to get bigger and better with every concert we present in the Hunter Valley and I think the line-up of Jewel and George is going to be superb,'' Promoter MICHAEL NEWTON said.
