THE DR T are a Newcastle original four-piece act with a style that could be described as `` PJ HARVEY dressed as the CURE , gate crashing a SONIC YOUTH SHOW ''.

Known for their unique mix of melodic rock grooves, acoustica and indie pop, the band formed in early 2002 as a two-piece acoustic act consisting of KATE McLEAN (vocals, guitar) and STEPHAN WIELAND (lead guitar).

They quickly evolved with the addition of drummer SIMON CARROLL and bassist ANTHONY DEAN into a solid live act.

This Friday night Dec 12 the group's debut EP Get The Dr t will be launched upstairs at THE LUCKY COUNTRY HOTEL .

The extended EP features eight songs (including two live tracks) that were recorded at the BRICK IN ELANDS on the Mid-North Coast.

Two songs off the debut EP reached the final round of the ABC MUSIC AWARDS 2003 and a video clip is in production.

The live music event will be hosted by the BIG FIASCO crew.

who have proven through previous shows that a good night is in store for everyone.

The bill includes: blues/grunge/folk/ soloist FUNKY FARMER , rock trio THE CUNNING STUNTS , The Dr t and world renowned West African performer AFRO MOSSES featuring a four-piece live band.

Over their short career The Dr t have performed more than 40 live shows including performances at: A-MAJOR MUSIC EXPO 02, HYPNO-CENTRIC, MUTHA-TONGUE MUSIC FESTIVAL, CHINESE FIGHTING CHICKENS CD LAUNCH, NEWCASTLE MUSIC WEEK and THE ART EXPRESS REGIONAL STATE OPENING .

The Dr t will also be performing at the ISLINGTON STREET FAIR this Sunday Dec 14 alongside a feast of entertainment.
