IT was less than three months ago that Australian comic COL ELLIOTT had Novocastrians audiences in stitches.

The larrikin will return next month to perform five dates around the Hunter from October 16 to 20.

Elliott is regarded as one of Australia's favourite funnymen and has had success both on stage and on record, with more than 13 of his albums going gold.

His clever style of comedy has seen him pick up the MO AWARD for Best Variety Comedy Entertainer consecutively in 1996 and 1997.

Catch Elliott when he performs at HEXHAM BOWLING CLUB on October 16, WARATAH-MAYFIELD RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB on October 17, TILLIGERRY RSL CLUB on October 18, BELMONT 16FT SAILING CLUB on October 19 and SOUTHS LEAGUES CLUB on October 20.

Tickets are on sale from the venues.

Fans Get Set for the Fabba Four

DON'T forget to polish those platforms and don your favourite flares when FABBA comes to town this week.

FABBA provides the ultimate tribute to the Swedish disco icons, decked out in full costume and performing all of ABBA'S greatest hits.

But the performers have their tongues firmly in cheek and present a look at AGNETHA, FRIDA, BENNY and BJORN and their lives after divorce.

The four decide to reunite after years away from the limelight, hoping to raise money to maintain their youthful looks with rejuvenation surgery.

Apart from a few chuckles, punters can still expect to hear all the classics of ABBA from WATERLOO to DANCING QUEEN. FABBA will play CLUBNOVA PANTHERS NEWCASTLE on Friday night.

The show continues from 8.30pm to 11pm.

Tickets are available on the door for $12.

BIG CUP PARTY

AND they're off!

BELMONT 16FT SAILING CLUB will celebrate the 2002 Melbourne Cup with a huge race day extravaganza.

Screening all of the day's races on the big screen, there will also be plenty of food and music on offer.

The club will host it's Melbourne Cup Day celebrations in its large auditorium on November 5.

Tickets to the event include a two-course meal, which include dishes such as scotch fillet, Chicken Ballintine, and sticky date pudding.

Live entertainment will be provided by DANNY ELLIOTT and local favourites the BIRBEN VARIETY BAND. Punters also have the chance to win great prizes by dressing in their best Melbourne Cup Day wear.

Tickets are $22 and are available from the club.

THREE IN ONE

IF you're a fan of ROY ORBISON, THE KING or BUDDY HOLLY, now is your chance to see the three legends brought to life by one very talented man.

South Australian entertainer CHRIS DRUMMOND has been performing widely throughout New Zealand and Australia for many years.

Renowned for his stirring vocals and charismatic stage persona, Drummond is also reputed for his amazing impersonations of music legends.

His vocal talents allow him to mimic the sound of Elvis Presley, deliver the melody of Orbison and relive the early rock of Holly.

Drummond will perform at BELMONT 16FT SAILING CLUB from 11am today in the LAKEVIEW LOUNGE. Entry is free and Drummond will be supported by young country music star ANGELA HAYDEN.
