Primary Graduates as Polished Live Act

Who: Primary
Where: Beachcomber Hotel
When: Thursday February 7, 2002

WITH a reputation as a highly energetic and engaging live act, Primary is heading our way and will perform at the Beachcomber Hotel at Toukley on Thursday.

The band returned from a successful tour of New Zealand earlier this month which followed its appearance at Homebake in December.

The group continues to enjoy the success of its second album Watching The World following its release last May.

Offering the diverse stylings Primary has become reknown for, the album proves that vocalist Connie Mitchell has come along way since first hooking up with the band in 1994.

Watching The World was produced by Primary keyboardist Jamie Fonti and mixed by Chris Shaw, who has worked for Cypress Hill, Public Enemy and Ween in the past.

With the basics of rock n roll, Primary has added electronic flavours and twisting beats to its tracks.

'There are probably four or five layers to each song because it is a collection of so many different ideas from each of us,' Fonti said.

'Connie comes from this place where the lyrics evolve from sounds and moods, Sean provides the aggression and passion and I sit there and analyse and fine tune it,' Fonti said.

Tickets to the show at the Beachcomber are available at the door.
