Grants for Aspiring Stars of The Theatre

What: Youth Theatre Development Grants
Author: Yae Morton

FOUR aspiring theatre stars have been given the chance to further pursue their careers.

Club Nova has awarded Youth Theatre Development Grants to four young promising actors and theatre engineers.

Lauren Anderson, Luke Quinn, Tristan Connett and Russell Jones will receive their grants during the City of Newcastle Drama Awards (CONDA).

The ceremony will be held at ClubNova Newcastle on Friday.

Anderson and Quinn will both receive $300, while Connett and Jones will each receive $150.

The awards were given to the aspiring theatre stars to help recognise some of the talented young Hunter people involved in theatre.

Actors and St Francis Xavier students Anderson and Quinn have both appeared in local productions.

Anderson is a member of Endac Youth Theatre and she and Quinn act in the Young Peoples Theatre. While you may not recognise Connett and Jones for their work on stage, they are responsible for much of the behind the scenes work such as lighting and sound design.

The CONDA Awards are open to the public and will be staged as a cabaret.

Money from proceeds will go to the Youth Theatre Development Grants.
