What: Miss Nightlife 2001
Where: Deuce Nightclub
When: Saturday September 1, 2001

SOME of the Hunter's most beautiful and charismatic young women have been busy strutting their stuff on the catwalk at Deuce Nightclub for the chance to be named Miss Nightlife 2001. The competition began a few months ago and the grand-final of the event was held on September 1.

The competition attracted more than 50 entries from women across the Hunter and Newcastle but there could only be one winner.

Rutherford beauty Samantha Steel took out first place in the competition to be named Miss Nightlife 2001.

First prize won Samantha $3000 cash and a $550 professional portfolio.

Samantha grew up in Rutherford and has trained as a ballerina most of her life.

She models full-time in Melbourne and her stunning looks have led her to feature in men's magazine Ralph. Samantha was entered in the competition by chance when her mother heard of the event and quickly entered her daughter.

A close runner-up was beach babe Rebecca Ranclaud who received a second prize of $500 cash plus a $275.00 portfolio.

Rebecca is a Newcastle girl and holds the current title of Miss Surfest 2001. Third place went to Kurri Kurri's Amy Kingsley, who received $250 cash and a $275.00 portfolio.

Teenage girls also have their chance to win $1000 in cash and be crowned Little Miss Nightlife in a new competition which begins this weekend.

Little Miss Nightlife is open to girls aged 14 to 17 and starts on Friday night at the Teenage Rampage party between 6.30 and 10.30 pm. Deuce is in Maitland City Bowling Club.
