Solid MYX of Funky Tunes with Big Sound

Who: Myx
Where: Wickham Park Hotel
When: Saturday October 13, 2001

LOCAL act MYX will launch its debut album For Reasons at the Wickham Park Hotel on Saturday.

The four-piece has developed a strong following since it began performing at venues like The Lass O'Gowrie, The Cambridge Hotel and Lakeside Tavern 14 months ago.

Performing both original music and covers, MYX has achieved high placement in local band competitions.

MYX made the semi-finals at SJ's Exposay band competition and were runner-up at the Albion Hotel's Exposay competition.

The group supported Mental As Anything during its show at Cessnock Supporters Club. MYX is made up of vocalist and guitarist Sharon Moore, drummer Melissa Leatham, guitarist Steve Snitch and bassist Geoff Neal. MYX performs an original style of music while maintaining a commercial feel with funk, blues, rock and country.

'That's why we called ourselves MYX, because we are trying to mix our music into the commercial scene,' Sharon said.

MYX will launch its album at the Wickham Park Hotel from 8pm on Saturday, playing all the tracks and some favourites.
