Female First as Women Front up for a Musical Showcase in City

What: Women Upfront
Where: Club G (The Barracks)
When: Saturday November 10, 2001

A FANTASTIC line-up of Australian female performers will star in a special show at Club G on Saturday night.

The venue will host a new music showcase called Women Upfront for the first time in Newcastle.

The show features performances from 15 female vocalists and songwriters who will each perform original material in acoustic mode.

Acts include local emerging artists, a number of relocated Newcastle women and travelling acts from both Sydney and Brisbane.

The line-up includes a range of diverse musical styles covering jazz to politics.

Sydney-based artists Jaqueline Amidy and Julia Day perform original, jazz-based tunes.

The delicate vocals of Melanie Horsnall will be heard and Janet Swain, who has been described as a cross between Joni Mitchell and Sheryl Crow will also perform.

Other artists on the bill include former Jonah's Pride artist De Greer, Orasa and Queensland girl Kristy Apps. Newcastle talent includes Joanna Leigh, Elissa Oberg, Courtney Collins, Anousha Victoire and many more.

The show runs from 7pm until midnight. Entry is $7.
