WITH his latest release reaching gold status, Australian pop-music pioneer Jimmy Little is already working on a follow-up.
Jimmy Little's album The Messenger was certified gold by ARIA recently and the next instalment is well on the way, with songs from many writers including Paul Kelly, Brendan Gallagher, Stephen Cummings, Dave Mason, and Bernard Fanning from Powderfinger.
Production duties are being shared between Sea Change composer and producer Richard Pleasance, Daniel Denholm and Messenger producer, Karma County's Brendan Gallagher. 'Each arranger has a time frame and works with me individually,' Little said of the production process. 'They all have their own individual brilliance, so the finished product will be interesting.'
Engineer Jeremy Allom will mix the completed album, scheduled for a September release.
Jimmy is also about to record a version of Crowded House's 'Don't Dream it's Over' with Kylie Minogue for an album entitled Corroboration.
Before locking himself away in the studio to complete vocals for the new album, Jimmy and his band will perform a show at West Leagues Club on Friday night.
TE has three double passes to the show. Enter online at www.nnp.com.au or send an envelope to Jimmy Little Giveaway with your name, address and phone number on the back to PO Box 615, Newcastle, 2300.
