NEW duo Gypsy will make their debut at the Belmont 16 Footers Sailing Club on Friday night.
Gypsy features well-known guitarist Kelvin Nolan, who has played with John Williamson for many years as well as The Craz Bros, Kate Ballantyne and Weddings Parties Anything. He was also a vital part of the now-defunct Coalfields-based trio Fandango, with Kate Ballantyne and Rhonda Lee. The Country Music fraternity is more like a family than a list of credits as he has played with performers from Slim Dusty to Beccy Cole. Nolan has twice supported John Farnham and Jimmy Buffet and appeared on the Midday Show and Hey Hey Its Saturday. Vocalist Linda Newton comes from a musical family.
She is the daughter of country legend Slim Newton and her brother Steve Newton is a record producer who is touring with John Williamson.
Linda has performed with a number of duos including the Tamworth based Rumours. Gypsy plan to deliver a huge variety of styles and songs ranging from country rock and modern day pop to classics everyone will know.
If you miss them at Belmont they will also play at the Hamilton RSL Club on Saturday night.
