Epicure Has Support of Big Names

Who: Epicure, Strength To Strength, Operation Lager, Sleight of Hand, Extortion
Where: The Castle Tavern
When: Wednesday March 14, 2001

BALLARAT- based Triple J Radio favourites Epicure will be tonight's headline act after heat three of the Bundy Band Challenge at The Castle Tavern. The five-piece has secured regular airplay with singles Feet From Under Me and Johnny Venus from their debut album Fold which is distributed through MGM.

The band has enjoyed support spots for some of Australia's hottest rock acts in the past year, the most notable being on The Superjesus national tour with Lo-Tel Elephant Gun. The constant crowd pleasers also supported 28 Days on their most recent tour.

The Bundy Band Challenge is running in a unique format, with four entrants a week to be followed by a professional headline act. Each band plays a 20-minute set and is judged on a set of criteria that encompasses the whole performance, from musicianship and originality through to performance and audience involvement.

This week's four band challenge entries will be Strength To Strength, Operation Lager, Sleight of Hand and Extortion. The Bundy Band Challenge is open to any unsigned act in the country and applications are still open through Sound World Newcastle and The Castle. Heat Two last week saw two very different bands, The Good and Undermine, go through to the next round.

The Good's brand of melodic pop with both male and female vocals and Undermine's power punk will be heard in the latter rounds of the competition.

The challenge is held every Wednesday night at The Castle.
