SOLO guitarist and vocalist Roger Pryor will host the first instalment of a weekly night of acoustic entertainment titled Criterion Acoustic at the Criterion Hotel tonight.
Acoustic performers are invited to perform at the show where Roger will set up the PA and provide a spare microphone.
The show gives acoustic performers the opportunity to perform music using an acoustic instrument as backing and showcase their talents.
A booking sheet will be available for performers to sign up on, but don't confuse the evenings entertainment with karaoke.
'This is different from karaoke in that there's no backing, musos need to play their own songs,' Roger said.
The evening is subtitled 'Mid-week mellow music' and if the night is successful, Roger hopes to make the show a weekly event.
'There are not a lot of other venues which host live music on a Wednesday night and this will give punters the opportunity to sample something different,' Pryor said.
Pryor said that the evening will also give local musicians the chance to get together and share what they are doing.
'It's a chance to revive some of the greatest songs from the acoustic period of the '60s and '70s, as well as presenting more recent songs in an acoustic mode.'
Pryor also hopes that singers and songwriters will use this as a chance to perform their material in front of an audience and other musicians.
Performance bookings can be made on the evening or by calling Roger on 0421 316-473.
