Phul Emmanuel has been touring across Australia since he was just eight years old. After 41 years he is still at it and will perform at the Cessnock Ex-Services Club on Saturday night.
Phil began touring as a child, playing his favourite tunes with brothers Chris and Tommy and his sister Virginia.
The legacy he holds with his brother Tommy and their immense talent was celebrated in 1995 with the release of a collaborative effort titled Terra Firma. The album was a success and nominated for an ARIA award as the Best Adult Contemporary album.
Individual achievements also make Phil's list of notable activities quite extensive.
In 1991 he was given the Hands of Fame award, which has previously been awarded to Country music greats such as Slim Dusty, Ted Egan and John Williamson. Just some of the major artists that Phil has performed alongside include Dire Straits, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton. Emmanuel recently returned to Australia after he attended the Nashville Chet Atkins Convention earlier this month.
Phil will perform with his newly formed band on Saturday night.
Joining him on stage is Freddie Greensill on drums, Rohan Hems on bass and Julia Parker on guitar and vocals.
