Variety Spices up Scram's Set

Who: Scram
Where: Grand Hotel
When: Saturday September 30, 2000

COMBINING 'rarely heard hits with recent releases' is how SCRAM intends to piece together this Saturday night's classic rock show at the Grand Hotel. Scram plays classic 1980s rock from DURAN DURAN, CHEAP TRICK, HUNTERS & COLLECTORS and THE DIVINYLS, as well as 1990s rock from PEARL JAM, BLINK 182, THE LIVING END and SILVERCHAIR. The group's members have plenty of experience, from groups such as THE WAYNE SPARK BAND, QUAAN and SNOGLUST, featuring WAYNE (SPARKY) SIMPSON on guitars, guitar synth and vocals, MICK HURLEY on drums, backing, TIM AYRES on bass, guitar and vocals and MATT MCCLURE on guitar, bass and backing vocals.

CHAOTIC CD: EXPECT to hear everything from surf punk and electronic music, to ska, rockabilly and heavy metal at this Saturday night's CASH FROM CHAOS CD launch at the Hunter on Hunter. The Newcastle band has invited groups, of various genres, from as far as Brisbane, Lismore, Ipswich and Sydney, to launch its CD 69 this weekend. The disc was recorded in June.

GET GOTHIC: FIRST time promoters TRACI STUBBS and SCOTT BROWN will stage their first Gothic music night on Saturday, September 30, in Bar Deco at The Cambridge Hotel. NECROPOLIS will start at 10pm and continue 'until late', featuring 'goth, industrial and 1980s' music by bands such as THE SISTERS OF MERCY, RAMMSTEIN, THE CURE, DEPECHE MODE and NINE INCH NAILS. According to Traci, she and fiancee Scott are throwing the night because they grew tired of travelling to similar evenings such as RITUAL, VORTYEX and HELLRAISER in Sydney. The music comes courtesy of Scott's own CD collection, which numbers 'about 800' discs. Tickets are $5 and $4 for students.
