AUSTRALIAN blues music legends THE BONDI CIGARS return to the Hunter this week to preview material from their first new album in two years.
Playing tomorrow night at the Grand Junction Hotel, Maitland, and the Northern Star Hotel, Hamilton, this Friday night, the group has just returned from a tour of South East Queensland.
The group is recording a new album in between gigs, their first since 1998's MERCY and the band's inclusion on ABC television's SEA CHANGE soundtrack.
Bondi Cigars features guitarist and lead vocalist SHANE PACEY (pictured), bass player and vocalist ALAN BRITTON, guitarist and vocalist EBEN HALE, and drummer ANDREW VAINAUSKAS. Deftly blending the classic sounds of blues, soul, funk and R&B with a new millennium relevance, the group has amassed a faithful following through relentless touring and a commitment to quality performance of R&B and roots music.
In 1990, the band released its self-titled debut album for ABC Records, followed by BAD WEATHER BLUES in 1993.
The Bondi Cigars released AFTER CLOSING TIME in 1995, winning Best Blues Album and Best Blues Band at the annual Lithgow Blues Festival in 1996.
