MEMBERS of the Cardiff Workers Club have responded enthusiastically to a market survey of entertainment preferences, indicating a strong preference for country music.
Marketing manager HELENA FIELD said a survey of members showed more members wanted to see country music artists performing at the club.
Beginning last week, the club has booked a string of country music performers for regular Friday night shows.
This week Australian country music singer-songwriter COL FINLEY will take to the stage.
Finley arrived on the country music scene in 1993, performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival on the roof of his Holden panel van.
One of Finley's songs, GIFT WRAPPED IN A CHILD, won an international songwriting competition in the US and the offer of a recording and publishing deal for the songwriter.
Finley has performed at the Gympie Muster and the Emerald City Country Music Spectacular with the slogan 'Shaking the dust off Australian country music.' TE
