THE latest adrenalin-pumping sports flick from veteran filmmaker WARREN MILLER will feature music from BARENAKED LADIES, COLLECTIVE SOUL, COUNTING CROWS, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, PROPELLER HEADS and TONIC. The film, FIFTY, will feature highlights from the snow-mad director's prolific filmmaking career, which began in 1949 on a modest budget using a borrowed camera. Fifty will come to Newcastle's Kensington Theatre on Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25, showing four times each day.
SOLO STARS: COMMUNITY symphony orchestra ORCHESTRA NOVA will perform on Sunday afternoon at Newcastle City Hall from 2pm. The concert titled SUPERNOVA will feature four talented Hunter soloists, mezzo-soprano EMMA HAINING, trombonist GARRY KOSKY, trumpeter JANELLE RIGGS and clarinet player IAN SYKES, in a program featuring MOZART'S MARRIAGE OF FIGARO and ELGAR'S POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE MILITARY MARCH NO.3.
