THREE of Australia's hottest heavy metal acts will team up for WORLD WAR III, a monster all-ages show this Saturday night at the Croatian Wickham Sports Club. Joining the groups on the Newie bill will be this city's finest metal masters COMPOST who are putting the finishing touches to their first official CD release THE WRIT OF CETORARI, due for release in September. The 15-date tour features CRYOGENIC, ALCHEMIST and PSI.KORE (that's the lead singer from each band pictured left to right). The shows are being presented nationally by UTOPIA RECORDS and TRIPLE J'S THREE HOURS OF POWER. Tickets are $12. Shows starts at 6pm.
NONCHALANCE: Laid-back club entertainer ROGER PRYOR, playing solo at Belmont Golf Club on Friday night, has a background in live theatre, musicals and revues. After a six-year break from live music, Pryor has returned as the front man for DUKES OF JIVE, playing everything from pub gigs to weddings and dinner dances. As a soloist, and a frontman, Pryor is much loved for his 'easy rapport' with the audience.
MEMORY LANE: TAKE a walk down memory lane with the FLASHBACK duo this Sunday at Edgeworth Bowling Club. JOHN WILCOX and ROBIN WAITE dress in colourful 1950s costumes, and 'decorate the stage with posters and gear from the era'. The guitarist/vocalists perform with electronically-reproduced bass and drums backing. The duo covers songs CHUCK BERRY, THE SHADOWS, ROY ORBISON, ELVIS PRESLEY and BUDDY HOLLY among others.
