Rats Heading in a New Direction

Who: Leeroy and the Rats
Where: Wangi Hotel
When: Sunday April 2, 2000

AFTER more than a decade of touring and releasing independent albums, LEEROY AND THE RATS have been re-born.

The trio has reinvented itself with new attitude and musical direction.

It has different members and also has a new album in the works.

The band consists of Mat Ferguson (guitar, vocals, mandolin) Steve Mac (drums, vocals), and Lee 'Leeroy' Hammond (bass, keyboards, vocals, guitar).

Leeroy said a change was needed in order to bring life back into the band, and said the first song from the new CD was almost finished.

The guys perform songs by artists like PINK FLOYD and THE DOORS though it's also clear the Rats have a distinct sound of its own.

But one thing is for certain, Leeroy is the driving force behind the band.

He has an extensive catalogue of recorded material to his credit, featuring players from THE ANGELS and THE SCREAMING JETS With all the changes and new additions LEEROY AND THE RATS has proved it is a band fit for the new millennium. It will appear at Wangi Hotel on April 2.
