Who: Erin
Where: Lass O' Gowrie
When: Saturday July 1, 2000

FOLK rock band ERIN will perform its 'ancient Celtic melodies and energetic songs of rebellion' at the Lass O'Gowrie Hotel on Saturday night.

The group, which covers songs by STEELEYE SPAN, FAIRPORT CONVENTION and SINEAD O'CONNOR, has been announced as a fortnightly fixture at the venue.

Lead vocalist BERNADETTE LANNEN, who boasts of ancestry from Tipperary and Carlow, claims to have Celtic music in her blood.

Lannen also trains in singing at the Conservatorium of Music, Newcastle, and has performed professionally for the past six years.

Members of the band have loads of live experience, including former HOUND drummer JUSTIN STREET, and one-time REEL SLIGO violinist RICHARD SMITH. Other members include bass player BILL WICKS (THE SWINDLERS) and DENNIS BOURKE (BENNY & THE JETS). The group performs some originals, as well as popular, folk tunes.
