IN a sea of cover bands Newcastle trio BLUEFISH literally stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Drummer STEVE FULLER, who also sings 90% of the band's songs, stands up when he plays the drums.
According to bass player SIMON ENDERSBY it's a gimmick that attracts plenty of attention.
'Visually it's pretty exciting,' he said.
Playing tonight at the Kent Hotel and Thursday night at The Delany, Bluefish also stands out because of its choice of songs and how it plays them. 'We do a few strange versions of songs,' he said. 'We do some odd feels at times to some of the songs.'
One example was a cover of WILL SMITH'S WILD WILD WEST, combined with a cover of STEVIE WONDER'S I WISH. The group, which includes MICHAEL RIGBY on guitar, can also be seen around town as the backing group to female vocalist TERRY WILSON as DIZI. As Bluefish the trio performs male commercial pop rock of MATCHBOX TWENTY to funk of JAMIROQUAI and SMASH MOUTH. TE
