Splurge of Favourites

Who: Splurge
Where: Mayfield Ex Services Club
When: Friday February 11, 2000

WITH a new approach, new members and some strong leads on what it is audiences want to hear, Newcastle rock band SPLURGE is coming out swinging.

Playing this Friday night at Mayfield Ex-Services Club, and Saturday at Lakeside Tavern, Splurge has a handle on what's hot in everything from new metal from KORN and TONIC, through to punk, pop and party songs.

In the blue corner the band has (from left) lead vocalist MARK CASHIN, drummer NATHAN CHAPMAN, guitarist GERALD BRASIER and bass player SHANE PINCHEN. In the red corner is the audience, who stands to be clobbered will all the latest Top 40 rock songs, and a few classics from the last century.

All members have racked up heaps of experience, notably Cashin who played in SMASH PALACE which released a mighty impressive CD a few years back.

Cashin also had a three year stint with the AUSTRALIAN PEARL JAM SHOW which took him on the road to Queensland, Perisher, the Whitsundays and Wollongong - nice work if you can get it.

The band has a set list that is updated frequently which, as of December, contained songs such as SMOOTH by SANTANA, ALL STAR by SMASHMOUTH, ALL TORN DOWN by THE LIVING END and LEARN TO FLY by THE FOO FIGHTERS. Splurge already has a busy year ahead with gigs coming up in Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock, Kurri, Singleton and Williamtown. TE
