The King of King Impersonators

Who: Memphis Mafia
Where: Bellbird Workers Club
When: Friday August 11, 2000

HE'S got a hunka, hunka burning love, a sequinned jumpsuit and a 10-piece band called the MEMPHIS MAFIA to prove he's the Hunter's number one ELVIS PRESLEY fan.

His name is PAUL SWEENEY, and next weekend the band will hold two concerts at Bellbird Workers Club to mark the 23rd anniversary of the death of the King of rock'n'roll.

Sweeney's group specialises in the Vegas-era Presley, and will deliver two two-and-a-half-hour shows on Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, from 8pm.

Proceeds from the concert, organised in collaboration with the Bellbird Workers Club, will raise money for the Westpac rescue helicopter and Cessnock Hospital.

Word has spread about Sweeney's prowess as the King of King impersonators, and the first 350-person seated show has already sold out.

Tickets are available, at $10 a head, by phoning the club on 4990-2147.

After the two-hour show the Memphis Mafia band will perform an additional two-hour concert of classic 1950s and 1960s rock'n'roll.

The 10-piece band includes a three-piece horn section featuring THE GILL BROTHERS, from the WARD BIG BAND, on trumpet, trombone and saxophone.

Other members of the Memphis Mafia include KELLIE GRANT and PAUL DOHERTY on backing vocals, TOM DORAN on lead guitar, IAN REES on rhythm guitar and JASON PRICE on keyboards. TE
