THE NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY CHOIR will perform the FAURE and RUTTER REQUIEMS on Good Friday, April 21, at the University of Newcastle Great Hall.
The choir and ensemble will be conducted by KIM SUTHERLAND, musical director of THE HUNTER SINGERS, who is completing a creative arts masters degree.
In 1999 Sutherland won the WESLEY INSTITUTE ORCHESTRAL CONDUCTING PRIZE. She also received an honourable mention in the Council of Australian Cultural Studies National Awards for 'an outstanding contribution to Australian culture'.
Baritone soloist CHRISTOPHER ALLAN (THE SONG COMPANY, AUSTRALIAN OPERA CHORUS and AUSTRALIAN CHAMBER VOICES) will perform, along with soprano ANNA SANDSTROM (HUNTER SINGERS, STARSTRUCK and CATHEDRAL FESTIVAL). The leader of CAMERATA MUSICALE, violinist CHRISTOPHER MOORE (SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA reserve list), will feature as violin soloist in the Faure Requiem. =4969-5778. TE
