What: Originals Gig at Wickham Croation Sports Club
Where: Croation Wickham Sports Club
When: Wednesday August 25, 1999

A SOLID crowd of more than 150 punters has the CROATIAN WICKHAM SPORTS CLUB in Hannell St all whipped up about original music at the club.

A strong turnout a fortnight ago to see the launch of the CABIN FEVER CD WEEDS & ROCKS, and THE BUSHPUNK COWBOYS, ICE.O.MATIC and MARGRET, has prompted the club to host fortnightly gigs.

This Saturday night, again for a $2 cover charge, you can see THE AFTERTHOUGHTS, fresh from its SILVERCHAIR support last month, as well as THE RODGERS, WEISHEIMER and BILL POSTERS & THE PROSECUTED. Rodgers bass player PHIL MCNALLY says it will be the final show for drummer STEVIE SQUELCH who will be leaving the band to focus on his Cabin Fever commitments.

He described Bill Posters as 'lounge punk rockabilly', and The Rodgers and The Afterthoughts as both '70s sounding Detroit-style rock'.

Weisheimer are more your 'pop punk in that South Cal' FAT WRECK CHORDS' ball park, in the same vein as punk pop bands 'like BAD RELIGION and NOFX'. The venue offers club-price drinks, old fashioned hospitality, and is reportedly delighted by the aggro-free rollups to recent shows.
