WITH the shrinking price of recording equipment and computer technology, now more than ever musicians are taking control of their own destinies and releasing quality music on their own.
The latest example of the power and quality of digital recording will be released this Sunday at the Lass O'Gowrie from 5pm.
A new CD, A NIGHT IN A NEWCASTLE PUB VOLUME 1, will be released by the tight-knit community of Newcastle musicians, their friends and families, who gather regularly at the Lass O'Gowrie.
A second CD will be recorded on the same night.
Regular Lass performer MAX MULLER, from the BLACK COFFEE duo, decided to record musicians at the SOLO DUO nights which began once a month on Sundays last year. The result is a brilliant document of Newcastle's hidden talent.
Highlights from the first CD are duets from PUCKO and MICKY BARKER, and collaborations involving PETE HARBULOT, ALLEN LEADBETTER, JOHN MCIVOR, 'MAL' JOLSON and CARL BROWN. Musicians of all abilities are invited to Sunday's launch and recording session.TE
