YOU may recognise this man as BOB JELLY, the unscrupulous property developer and councillor from the popular ABC TELEVISION series SEA CHANGE. On Monday, November 15, Jelly, aka actor JOHN HOWARD will be visiting Newcastle to preside over THE NEWCASTLE DEBATE, to be held at Newcastle City Hall at 7.30pm.

Howard's character has already put forward some suggestions of his own for Newcastle to set the theme of the debate which is sub-titled - THE PEOPLE OR THE PLACE. How about a community bank, or a new bridge from Belmont to Toronto?

Tickets to The Debate, presented by ABC RADIO 2NC, are free and available from 2NC Studios in Wood St, Newcastle, or from ABC Shops in Charlestown, Raymond Terrace and East Maitland.

Speaking for 'the people' will be Newcastle-born actor and comedian JONATHAN BIGGINS, Anglican Bishop ROGER HERFT and ABC presenter LINDY BURNS. Speaking for 'the place' will be NEWCASTLE HERALD columnist MURRAY HARTIN Newcastle City Council general manager JANET DORE and ABC presenter CRAIG HAMILTON. TE
