AS well as chooks, cows and prize pumpkins at this week's Newcastle Regional Show there will be 12 fine specimens of the Hunter's next most famous export industry - original music!
For four days, beginning tomorrow and winding up on Sunday, Newcastle's finest groups will perform for the first time to thousands of expected show lovers.

AUDIOPHILE: 'Imagine THURSTON MOORE from SONIC YOUTH in a V8 in the 1980s' and you have an idea of the sound of AUDIOPHILE. ARMY OF PRAWNS: With a wry sense of humour Army Of Prawns have built themselves a small but devoted following for their 'alternative rock/pop/funk and soft hip hop' music. Band members are aged 16 and 17. Lead singer HEATH PARWN is the brother of SILVERCHAIR front man DANIEL JOHNS but the band does not play on this fact at all. (We just thought you might be interested to know.) Other members are drummer RICHARD PRAWN, guitarist GERARD PRAWN and bass player OWEN PRAWN.
TRACTOR: Original kick-arse rock band featuring KEN JEWEL on vocals and guitar, ROB CARSTEIN on drums, LEIF TISDELL on bass guitar, DARREN SEARLES on guitar.
The whole she-bang is presented by THE JAM FACTORY, an original music initiative out of the EASTERN ACOUSTIC ORGANISATION. The Jam Factory aims to tour original bands throughout the Hunter this year.
