COUNTRY fans will not want to miss TINA MARTYN at Mayfield Ex-Services Club this Sunday, March 14.
The 17-year-old singer/songwriter, who is rapidly making a name for herself, will appear at the club with her band.
As a Novocastrian, Tina's experience of growing up in a close family has given her an insight which she reflects with her songwriting.
Tina says she remembered listening to music from a young age.
'LINDA RONDSTADT, PATSY CLINE and KAREN CARPENTER were the three that I really enjoyed and went out of my way to hear,' she said.
While learning to play guitar, Tina began writing her own material.
'I started to mess around writing songs - I wrote my first song probably around 12, but I've only really focused on songwriting over the last two years,' she said.
After winning a swag of country music awards, Tina began her professional career in late 1991.
In 1995, aged 15, she travelled to the Gympie Muster where she won first prize from a field of 168. TE
