VERSATILE jazz and blues vocalist DIANNIA HEATHER will demonstrate her stylistic elasticity this weekend with three very different gigs in a few short days.
At 5pm on Friday afternoon Heather, with friend and collaborator MAX MULLER, will perform commercial covers and R&B at that bastion of interesting music and an audible conversation, the Lass O'Gowrie Hotel.
On Sunday afternoon Heather will head across the tracks at Wickham to The Kent Hotel at 4pm to join the NEVILLE URE TRIO of ANDREW WALLACE on double bass, TERRY WIDOWSON on piano and CARY BENNETT on drums.
There Heather will perform the songs of 1920s blues artist BESSIE SMITH and 'cabaret specialities' of SHIRLEY BASSEY. Then from 7pm it will be a short hop, skip and jump back across the tracks to the Lass for a country night with THE DOLPHINS until 10pm.
Featuring JOHN PAPANIS on banjo and lap steel and DAVE EVANS on fiddle, the six-piece Dolphins will perform a five-part gospel harmony song YOU DON'T KNOCK, as well as western swing and country blues 'n' rock. TE
