Trio Weaves Together Interesting Mix

Who: Thread

PLAYING music from the ROLLING STONES to ELVIS COSTELLO, DAVID BOWIE to THE SPENCER DAVIS GROUP, Newcastle rock trio THREAD will pull you out of your seats and onto the dance floor.

Gigging on New Year's Eve at the Wangi Hotel, guitarist TERRY CABAN, drummer MICK WILLIAMS and bass player MICK KING are one of the city's hottest combinations.

With an eclectic combination of blues infusion, 1960s pop, r&b, rockabilly and 'a few favourite classics thrown in', Thread weaves an interesting mix of high energy groove.

The band's lead singer Caban, along with Williams, performed in THE EMBERS together. Williams has also performed in a number of Melbourne groups.

Caban was caught on the hop when TE asked him for his new year's resolution at a very rock'n'roll unfriendly time of the morning.

'Oh no. I've just got out of bed. I'm confused at the moment,' he said.

After a few seconds he offers 'more early gigs!'

Seriously, the band is looking at getting more work in Sydney in the new year, as well as more gigs in other parts of the Hunter Valley.

King, the band's backing vocalist, has resolved to undertake formal musical studies in electric bass in Sydney in 2000, involving four days a week of commuting.
