NEWCASTLE duo CAUGHT IN THE ACT has been so successful that not even the couple's wedding anniversary this week could stop the offers of work rolling in.
Playing this Friday night at the Cardiff Workers Club KAREN DURAND said she and her husband would most likely celebrate with a meal before their 8pm start.
It will also be business as usual on Saturday night, from 8pm, with a gig at the Shortland RSL Club for Durand and husband of four years LANCE HAWKINS. Music is not the only interest that keeps these love birds busy.
Last week Hawkins was one of only 60 actors selected from 2000 hopefuls nationally to screen test for entry to the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DRAMATIC ARTS in Randwick.
Inspired by fellow Newcastle actor SUSIE PORTER's success on the silver screen, Hawkins travelled to Sydney to audition at the school that launched the careers of Australian actors MEL GIBSON, JUDY DAVIS, RUSSELL CROWE and SAM NEILL. CONDA-nominated Hawkins has worked in Newcastle in musical theatre and in television commercials.
Durand has performed in HOT PROPERTY, as well as Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, and has released her own CD.
The duo perform styles as diverse as jazz and country, as well as contemporary covers, to sequenced backing and live acoustic guitar. TE
