Fiddes in Form at Open Day

Who: Scott Fiddes
Where: Newcastle Community Arts Centre
When: Saturday April 10, 1999

ONE of the more unusual discoveries on the SMOKESTACK compilation CD released at the end of March was the music of SCOTT FIDDES. Fiddes, who can be seen performing in Irish group TINKER'S CURSE, contributed the song MORISSEYESQUE, which was picked up by ABC RADIO 2NC months before the CD was released.

With its unconventional vocal line and banjo melody, Fiddes' music is contemporary yet with a Celtic influence.

Fiddes, who plays electric guitar, will be one of the artists to perform at the Newcastle Community Arts centre open day this Saturday from 11am until 4pm.

The community is invited to the Parry St, Newcastle West centre, (next to the Sacred Heart Cathedral), to look in on artists' studios and enjoy food, music and markets.

It will be the second public performance by artists on the SMOKESTACK CD since last month's launch at the Foreshore. TE
