AUSTRALIAN country music icon SLIM DUSTY has been immortalised on a new tribute album, NOT SO DUSTY, which features 18 studio recordings by a who's who of Australian contemporary music.
Slim, performing this Friday night at Mayfield Ex-Services Club, said the album proved that his songs 'can be given different treatments and still come through'.
'The umbrella of country music has become a lot larger,' he said.
'There's a type of country music for everybody if you're prepared to look for it.'
Newcastle's SCREAMING JETS paid tribute to Slim with a rockin' rendition of the country music legend's CUNNAMULLA FELLER, the first single from the album.
Screaming Jets lead singer DAVE GLEESON said it was 'a great honour to record such a uniquely Australian song in our own style and still retain all the character of the song'.
Other artists to pay tribute to Slim include MIDNIGHT OIL, MENTAL AS ANYTHING, PAUL KELLY, ROSS WILSON (formerly of MONDO ROCK and DADDY COOL), and DON WALKER (COLD CHISEL). TE
