Festival to Rock on for Sick Mates

What: Newcastle Musicians Festival and Family Day
Where: Broadmeadow PCYC
When: Sunday October 25, 1998

NEWCASTLE musicians will rally to raise funds for the families of two friends who have been fighting a battle with cancer for the past two years.

Nine bands will perform at the NEWCASTLE MUSICIANS FESTIVAL AND FAMILY DAY at the Broadmeadow Police and Community Youth Club this Sunday, from 10am until 6pm, on two stages.

THE COMMITTMENTS BIG BAND, THE CRUISERS, GOLD CADILLAC, MELANGE, JAZZ A LA CARTE, TREVOR FURNER, SWEET INSPIRATION, PCYC BRASS BAND, CHRIS REYNOLDS BAND and STARSTRUCK performers have donated their services for the fundraiser.

Organiser TREVOR HEATON, pictured (from left) with Committments front line DAVID HICKS and GRAHAM LAMOND, said proceeds from an entry fee and raffle tickets would go to the families of the musicians who are ill.

A donation will also be made to the MATER HOSPITAL ONCOLOGY UNIT. 'Anyone who plays any instrument is welcome to join professional musos for a blast in the afternoon,' Heaton said.

There will be an indoor and an outdoor stage. Lunch and morning tea will be available. TE
