HUNTER vocalist SUSAN CARSON leaves for London in October to further her singing career, as part of her prize for winning the 1996 DORIS SMITH SCHOLARSHIP .
Carson, a 1997 WHITBURN ARIA COMPETITION winner, will perform at her own benefit concert at Adamstown Uniting Church Hall from 1.30pm on Sunday to raise funds for the trip.
She will perform as a guest artist of the NEWCASTLE CITY CHOIR and NOVA CHORALE LADIES CHOIR. On Sunday, September 6, LAKE MACQUARIE MUSICAL SOCIETY will host a FAREWELL CELEBRATION CONCERT for Carson at Warners Bay Community Hall from 2pm.
She will showcase her classical repertoire before performing with DAVE CARTER and MICHAEL STOVE from her contemporary trio LOVE THAT HAT. Tickets to both concerts are $8 and $6 concession. Inquiries 4952-1519. TE
