ROCK promoters have joined forces with the Swansea Workers Club and Surf Life Saving Club to present the first of planned monthly all-ages gigs at the Swansea Workers.

This Friday night four original Hunter rock bands, STRENGTH TO STRENGTH (pictured), SHANK'D, JDEE and DANK, will present five-hours of high-energy music at the workers club.

Proceeds from the $5 ticket sales will go towards the Swansea Surf Life Saving Club.

Organiser MARCUS WRIGHT from BIG APACHE PROMOTIONS was approached to run the concert by the local surf club.

Wright believes the workers club is a venue with enormous potential.

'When I walked into the room I just got an old vibe of The Palais (Royale in Hunter St West),' he said.

'Some big bands have played at the room and I'm confident with touring and local bands we will turn it into a regular all-ages room every six weeks.'

A musician who promotes original Hunter bands, Mr Wright is confident the venue will serve the needs of youth in the Charlestown to Catherine Hill Bay corridor.

Licencing requirements for all ages concerts will be met at the venue where the bar and gambling areas are situated away from the auditorium.

Doors open at 4pm, with last band finishing by 10pm. Entry is $5.
