A Good Cause And All That Jazz

AN evening of jazz will be staged at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club on March 25 to raise money for the Nicholas Trust. In conjunction with Hunter New England Health , the Nicholas Trust hopes to establish a palliative care facility for children which would serve our immediate region.

Comedian Mikey Robins will host the event and entertainment will be provided by popular Australian jazz groups John Morrison's Swing City and Galapagos Duck. Swing City is a big band made up of Australia's finest young jazz musicians.

It was formed in June 1999 by drummer John Morrison who, after spending 20 years co- leading bands with his brother James Morrison, embarked on a mission to form Australia's best swing big band.

Galapagos Duck is a name synonymous with Australian jazz.

It has received awards both in Australia and internationally, and with its distinct approach and wide appeal has become a household name.

The event will also include a charity auction of sporting memorabilia and artwork, as well as raffles and door prizes.

Tickets cost $40 per person or $35 each for a table of 10.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Nicholas Trust.
