Indie Rock Is The Beez Knees

Who: The Beez, Georg Sassnaowski
Where: Tighes Hill Social Club
When: Friday February 25, 2005

QUIRKY Berlin band The Beez has touched down in Australia.

It is the group's first tour of the country and its eclectic repertoire is sure to win a whole legion of new fans.

Essentially The Beez is a covers band, but they don't just play covers.

Instead they rearrange them and deliver them with their own distinctive stamp.

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit and The Sugababes' Overload are just some of the songs that will be given The Beez touch when they play Tighes Hill Social Club on Saturday night. Other artists featured include Radiohead, Dolly Parton, Black Sabbath, The Bee Gees and The Strokes. The group was formed in 1999 by Berlin-based accordionist and cabaret chanteuse Deta and former Sydney- based guitarist Rob Rayner. With the addition of bassist Charlotte Giuliani in 2004, The Beez sound was given a shake-up and developed an indie rock flavour.

The Beez will be joined by guitarist, bassist and mandolin player Georg Sassnaowski on the Australian tour.

Tickets cost $10.
