Bluebottle Kiss Stopover

Who: Bluebottle Kiss, Richmond Fontaine
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Saturday February 25, 2006

BEFORE jumping on a plane to the US to perform during the annual South By South-West Music Conference , Bluebottle Kiss will stop over in Newcastle.

The group has embarked on an 11-date east coast tour to support the release of the new five-track EP The Women Are An Army. It is just a taste of what is to come from the prolific band's forthcoming double album, Doubt Seeds , which is due for release in July.

Frontman and chief songwriter Jamie Hutchings said the album documents his broad musical tastes, which include everything from John Coltrane and Tom Waits to Slint and The Stooges. It was recorded at Sydney's Linear Studio on 16-track, two-inch tape machines; the same kind used to produce Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side of The Moon. Now 12 days, six reels of tape and 30 musicians later, the 27-track album is complete and Hutchings considers this one as the most adventurous yet.

Bluebottle Kiss will head to Austin, Texas, in April to take part in the music conference alongside almost 1000 other acts.

Supporting the band in Newcastle at the Northern Star Hotel on Saturday night will be US outfit Richmond Fontaine which is touring Australia for the first time.

The quartet's debut album The Fitzgerald has just been released here through Nonzero Records. Tickets will cost $15 at the door.
